It will likely be at least a month before funds are flowing to ailing financial institutions from the bill signed by President Bush shortly after passing the House on Friday.

This was a bad idea from the get go, as far as I'm concern everything should have crambled down as they all were predicting. Regular people's lives cramble all the time, even people who sacrified for the country dont get to be baillout, why the wall street and why now. Whatever plan they have in place sounds like business as usual with amore money in there pockets.

Hello Americans!
Have you all forgotten where these crooks get the money, and who they actually work for? If you do not agree with the way "they" are doing their jobs, then you have the POWER to #1. vote them out of office, in January, and #2. STOP PAYING INCOME TAX. After all, we have each paid $700 Billion dollars for this bailout, and until that amount is repaid to us, there should be NO MORE INCOME TAX COLLECTED FOR WASHINGTON!!!
Once the money does not roll into their treasury, from US, their EMPLOYER, they will have to figure something else out. Take back the power, and show them who the REAL BOSS is. All you have to do, is demand that your employer no longer deduct Federal Taxes (aside from FICA) Income Tax, set up your own account and when the "government" wants money, tell them to report to you, on what it will be spent for, then verify the facts. Those who agree with them, get the honor of paying for it, and those of us who disagree, get to keep our money where it is.
I'm no economist, but if one of my children were spending more of my money, than I allowed them to, either on cell phones, video games (with a credit card) or blowing the funds for their college education, I would stomp on them real hard, by taking away their privileges. Seems we have "trusted" these bums, long enough, and they are now running wild, without enforcement of any kind, to make them accountable for their disrespect for the laws. About time the Adults in this Country told the Children running the show, how it is to be run, and if they disregard the Law, they go to jail, they do not pass Go, they do not collect $200 million in a Golden Parachute. Simple, just don't give them anymore of you hard earned money, let them manage on the 700 Billion they just ripped us all off for, in order to placate those who wanted the wrong "investments", and get rich quick schemes without regard for those who are struggling.
I don't know about you, but I have worked hard all my life, and I'm tired of struggling and seeing no bailout. Probably because I don't squeal, like the pigs who put us in this mess. As for the FDIC, it's a joke. If you go to their web site, you will find that they will not report to you, the American Consumer, which banks are on the "watch list"! Can you believe that your Government will regulate airlines, restaurants, and safety matters on automobiles, yet they won't tell you which banks you should avoid? Even Consumer Reports Magazine has the freedom of speech, to tell you the safety ratings on an automobile, yet the safety of your money is a deep dark secret you can't know about? What's wrong with THAT picture? We must demand transparency in our Government, regardless of who the next President is. We are not idiots, unless we just believe that the Senate and House know more than we do, about spending OUR money. Wake up, and take control of this country, or wealthier Countries will buy us out, and control YOU.

I agree. I think Bush/ Rich MF are gonna take care of his/ their buddies and screw the rest of us. I never could afford a home because they ran the price for a home so unbelievably high...now they want me to pay for their stupid decisions. Well, Im not. Im not gonna do it. You idiots who made this funny money, YOU PAY FOR IT.
I agree. After this election, I think we should have a general accounting of who did what, and for those who are guilty ( Barner Frank and his gay lover in Fannie Mae), I think we need to immediately have a witchhunt and boil in oil any and all malefactors. Lets get medieval on them and turn it into a worldwide spectacle on how America gives payback to ripoff pigs. We can easily get the information, we can waterboard congress and find out who got what.

Everyone needs to watch this Google video:
THE EMPIRE OF "THE CITY " (World Superstate) part 1.avi
.
.
It explains why the US President does not have to answer to Americans. Legally and literally, the President of the United States does not work for Americans! In addition, the Federal Reserve is a private corporation that serves only the interests of a few international bankers. It is not a government entity. The Federal Reserve should be abolished because it creates these economic messes in so-called "business cycles." For more on this, see the Google video: "Creature From Jekyll Island A Second Look at the Federal Reserve ".
.
.I agree with Thatsthewaylovegoes . The only way to take back our power is to TAKE back our power. We are slaves to NO ONE. Our constitution gives us inalienable rights, meaning they CANNOT be taken away. This administration has done everything is can to strip us from our rights and throw us (and our future generations) into debt to try to make us slaves to the system. To continue being a slave, we have to continue consenting to their abuses. They are relying on our ignorance and inaction.
.
.Both McCain and Obama will continue the abuse. McCain is a war monger and more war is inevitable if he takes office. And since he is an elderly man with 4 types of cancer, Palin will likely because President as some point. Obama is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and he will therefore push through the North American Union , which will combine Mexico, USA, and Canada into on nation. This will abolish the US Constitution entirely.
It is imperative that we vote for a third party candidate. It is really our only chance.

Taking on more debt to solve a debt crisis is like trying to smother a fire with gasoline. The long eterm effect of the compunding will crush the US. Breaking up of the country into separate regions after the deflationationary depression is likey. Hopefully basic law and order can be maintained during the crisis. It is amazing that Arnold does not even consider the possibility of paying for the things that California buys with the money that California collects, instead it is automatically borrowed like everyone else in this nation of beggers.

We caught a bunch of crooks in the act of robbing our house, they tortured, raped and killed our spouse, raped our young daughters and sons, killed our dogs and cats, crapped on our floor, they admitted that they did this.
NOW YOU ARE TELLING US TO LET THEM GO, HELP THEM LOAD UP A TRUCK WITH OUR PROPERTY, AND GIVE THEM OUR WALLETS AND LIFE SAVINGS, ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MINDS?
We need to have anyone dealing with this, accompliances, arrested sent to Guantanimo indefinitely, tried by Military Tribunal, just like the Treasonous Domestic Terrorists that they are, under the Patriot Act.
They accomplished what the 911 Terrorists could not do, "US Economic Crisis", "Pearl Harbor of the US Economy" according to Warren Buffet, "Global War Against Terrorism" per George Bush.
NO BAILOUT. Lynch them. especially those corporate board members that think we don't know that they bought out Politicians and think they are above the law.
Our allies (Japanese, Germans, British, etc), think this bailout is a bailout of the Corporate Board Members that caused the US Economic Crisis. No punishment means NO CONFIDENCE IN US Political System, US Economy by our Allies.
By the way this is about Corporate "ownage" of "Corporate America, that means everything. Government, Politicians, Media, US Military, Justice Department, you.
You already made the Corporate Lawyers Barak Hussein Obama and Joseph Biden the President and Vice President. The passage as law of the Bailout "sealed the deal". The Electorial Colleges of NY (Bailout), NJ, CT, PA, MI, DE, IL. Are now theirs. Look at who Senator Joseph Bidens constituents are: Bank of America, Wilmington Trust, First USA / Bank One / JPMorgan Chase, AIG, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, Barclays plc, GM, Chrysler, etc. Sound familiar?
You think that if I owned a financial institution and you bought my debts that I would loan out risky loans again to your businesses. NOT NO BUT HLL NO.
Stockholders? Who cares I got Stock Options, not "Common" Stocks, your "Common" Stocks have no value, Corporation posted losses, by cooking the books, common stocks worthless. My Stock Options reinflated, richer.
Jobs? Americans too expensive, expendable like toilet paper. Lets move everything with the bailout money to another country, like GM, Ford, Chrysler.

You gotta calm down before you break something David.
Will it work? NO.
I'm retired. As I have watched my retirement funds go down the tubes over the past few weeks I continually wonder what it will take for the average American to get a break. Having lived through a number of adminstrations I have to say that I have not seen a Republican adminstration yet that I didn't suffer through or feel the after effects after they left office. And by the way I have voted Republican in the past..and regretted it.

YOU will retire when you take your last breathe.
Well put! Too much emphasis has been put on Bush. It is more of the Republican philosophies in general that have created the majority of these messes we find ourselves in. The Republican Party should be put to rest, permanently, I hope!

Steve, I have lived through a lot of administrations, and all the free give aways were in the Democratic Administrations. Back when the Clintons were in office an article was written in the NYT September 30, 1999 by Steven A. Holmes about the Clintons pushing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to loan to people who could not afford homes. Pressure was put on them so by 2001 half the loans given would be to minorities who could not afford homes. Care and reason were not given to this and we are where we are now. It takes time but the Clinton's policies are now with us. Bush's economics did pretty well (also remembering how well we recovered from 9/11) until this came crashing down on us and it was not of his making. The truth is it was cracking and crumbling for a good while before it hit the fan. I don't understand why people do not look at the truth. The crashing down was an accumulation of years of bad policies with no checks and balances. You know, for you have heard it enough, that McCain warned them in 2004 and Bush in 2005 and there are actual tapes of the session that took place where Republicans tried to reason with Barny Frank and others that Fannie Mae and Fredie Mac were in serious trouble, but they denied it and did not listen. I have heard these tapes and the obstinance of Barny Frank and Democrats that refused to admit it. They were in charge. How I wish that those who support the democrats would see the truth. I'm not taking up for this administration spending so much, but if you look at all the earmarks that democrats and republicans put on these bills, it is sickening. We can't stop them. Look at the rescue package and see the earmarks put on it; like we don't have enough debt as it is. There are many things wrong in the United States; such as companies going over seas, but no one is going to stop that, because even if they were given tax breaks, which Obama says he will, but then he says any business that makes $250 K a year will be taxed more. So how does that work? It is out of both sides of his mouth. Wasn't it Clinton that put NAFTA in and George Bush supports it? I don't know who wants to open the highways to run free from Mexico across the United States; a bad idea. It was not the idea of most Americans nor do they support the lax immigration that is taking over our country, NAFTA that gook jobs away, all the pork barrell spending, the graft and greed of Washington and Wall Street, nor this bail out bill, is not supported by most Americans, but we are helpless to do anything about it. Life will go on as it has, but it may not be the quality that we have known before. The huge health bill that Obama wants, where is that money going to come from? WE are broke, we don't have a surplus, we owe? Where is that going to come from? There are already many free health clinics and benefits. This is just a political ploy for the most part to cause people to want something for nothing. But it doesn't work that way, it is going to cost us in our taxes, and since there is no money, but taxes are going up especially under Obama with all his so called free programs. If he gets to be president, we are going to have to demand that he does not spend more than he takes in. That has to stop no matter who is President.
Will this plan work, I doubt it will work. Let me ask you, now where will money come from to spend on troops and their needs? Have we not borrowed from taxpayers, and I would bet you there's no money there, that they are depending on what we send in from one month to the next, living deep in debt and from pay check to pay check. If we had all kinds of money, then why did we borrow $500 billion from China? How do we pay that back and pay us back, also. We need to not be giving any money away to anyone. Something else that strikes me about all this that is so wrong is that we have sold these mortgages to foreign bankers? Shame on us selling mortgages to anyone that are worthless. The American dream is to own a home, but we all cannot afford the homes that are being built for the upper middle and rich people. All of this comes from greed, and whose more greedy than people who have money. I want to see all these crooks and people like Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd go to jail, and all those that worked with Fannie Mae and Fredie Mac that gave themselves huge money. I noticed Biden kept saying Obama warned, I can't remember a single time he warned anyone of this, but was on the take along with others. The bigger the government the more they cost. How I wish Jefferson were here and maybe could straighten this mess out, but he warned us and administrations have ignored the warning. People do not want it straightened out because they love the handouts. Many people think they can see this through but I remember, as a child, how difficult the Great Depression was. We had it good compared to many because we owned a farm. It was hard. My dad always said he never wanted to live through another depression.
Do I know where this is going, I don't. I have no idea. But this much I know if this Congress, which is mostly Democrats, can tack on earmarks when it was meant to bail out the troubled mortgage and loans and foolish banks that over spent then they have no sense of how angry we are to borrow more than they needed just to put in pork barrels. We are helpless to do anything but holler because these people who support Barny Frank, Christopher Dodd and the others will not vote out these dionasaurs who have been there far too long. You that say this is Bush's fault need to be fair and look at the history of all this. You said you had been through some administrations, I can't remember a single time when there haven't been poor people and those that struggled, that's the way history is. We have had better times in the last 30 years off and on of prosperity, but it was never prosperity for all or these people whom could not pay off their loans could have. We have to be fair and not say it's the Republicans fault when basically we have had just as many democrats, maybe more in ther spending our money like it was going out of style. Who knows, maybe it is and we will have to start the barter system again to live. All I know is that if it doesn't work look for more crime, more lawlessness, because I do not see a lot of these people willing to live on a poverty income. No one wants to live that way who is used to living high on the hog.
This is so funny. NOT.

"It will be our job to enact — and I think it will be comparable to what Franklin Roosevelt and the Congress did in the New Deal — a set of regulations for all of the financial industry," said House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank, D-Mass.

Just GREAT !!!
I will bet a dollar to a donut that the Treasury Secretary and the Financial Services Chaiman will screw this one up BIG TIME, just like FEMA has done in the past, with federal (taxpayers) funds.
I certainly hope the GAO will be on top of each and every step of this financial bail out and report their findings to the President, Congress, House of Representatives, and we the taxpayers.
IMMEDIATE judicial action should be taken for ANY misuse of these funds.

Unqualified home buyers were not the only ones who benefitted from Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank's efforts to deregulate Fannie Mae throughout the 1990s.
So did Frank's partner, a Fannie Mae executive at the forefront of the agency's push to relax lending restrictions.
Now that Fannie Mae is at the epicenter of a financial meltdown that threatens the U.S. economy, some are raising new questions about Frank's relationship with Herb Moses, who was Fannie's assistant director for product initiatives. Moses worked at the government-sponsored enterprise from 1991 to 1998, while Frank was on the House Banking Committee, which had jurisdiction over Fannie. …
The two lived together in a Washington home until they broke up in 1998, a few months after Moses ended his seven-year tenure at Fannie Mae, where he was the assistant director of product initiatives. According to National Mortgage News, Moses "helped develop many of Fannie Mae's affordable housing and home improvement lending programs."
Critics say such programs led to the mortgage meltdown that prompted last month's government takeover of Fannie Mae and its financial cousin, Freddie Mac. The giant firms are blamed for spreading bad mortgages throughout the private financial sector.
Start with Barney Frank in 1991. The two Ex CEO's who are FINACIAL ADVISORS to Obama camp who left Fannie and Freedie with 10's of millions and then follow the money. We just put the fox in charge of the hen house and Omaba is selling it to you as the persidents fault.
1991 onward.

Start with the "new deal " work forward. It has been one socialist program after another, trying to help so many that would not help themselves. In the 60's when I was in 7th grade, my history teacher said that social security would fail with the govenment getting most of the money. She had lived through the "roaring twenties" and saw the damage done by irresponsible people put in charge on many levels. She warned that my generation would never see social security paying us back any portion of what we put in. In 1977, the Carted andministration anlong with a huge democrat congress passed the Community Reinvestment Act. This was supposed to get banks to lend money to disadvanteged areas if they could afford to pay the money back. Then years later, the Savings and loan crisis saw the government have to step in and bail out the S&L's. After this, Bush 41 put in new regulations to stop what had become bad lending practices designed to keep banks in compliance with the CRA. IN 1993,and put in place starting in 1995, the Clinton administration put in stricter requirements to make banks make more loans to the uncredit worthy ior face government sanctions. In 1999 the first warning shots were fired by newspapers, i believe the New York Times was first, but it may have been the post; The saw trouble coming but then was summarily dissmised as fear mongers. Then Bush 43 brought it up in 2003, and congress again pushed backagainst regulation change at the root of "easy money" for borrowers. Now we are on the edge of the cliff and they are asking us to trust those whopushed us to the cliff to begin with. If someone stole something from your house and you caught them, would you then later give then keys to your house later. many of the people who got the loans in question did the right thing and got something they could afford. Others seeing a bigrer house and, they thought little risk , jumped aboard for the easy money. Some were speculators trying to buy ,remodel then resell the houses for a profit in a manner referred to as flipping. Too many thought there would never be an end to the skyrocketing housing prices that greatly exceeded inflation mostly because of the buyers getting money to easily, therefore driving up prices through supply and demand for those assets. But when any glitch came along, people started defaulting on the loans, which then dried up money for future loans. The vicious cycle had come to cause the collapse of the housing bubble. While this will bring house prices down to proper levels, it also leaves many banks with bad loans forced upon them in the name of "fairness" and many borrowers going bankrupt from not being able to refinance bad loans they had taken out.Remember whenever you hear the term "fairness" used in relation to government programs, it means those that have been responsible with their lives and finances are being asked to pay for those who have not been. When the government gets involved in any redistribution of wealth, it promotes abuse and supports beauracrcy.
Tom been both - I agree with you, but some posters do not care about facts, they are not fair in studying history, it doesn't matter to them. Maybe one or two might have the fairness to look at the truth. But don't look for most of the liberals to have the ability to or want to think to see the truth. It's just bash Bush for them. One day, maaybe, if you can get a honest reporter these days, history may prove that Bush was not nearly as bad as the biased media make him out. I dont' watch NBC, ABC, CBS, SSPAN or MSNBC very often because they cannot tell the truth about anything. Only do their best to bring people around to their way of thinking. They have done pretty well at that, I would say from seeing the posts on a lot of different subjects. Your article is good and intelligent.
Start with the "new deal " work forward. It has been one socialist program after another, trying to help so many that would not help themselves.
I really had trouble getting past the first line of your post. So you think the New Deal was instituted because so many people wouldn't help themselves? Pathetic.

I agree jbdaad: The worst is yet to come...How much are these lawmakers making off of this deal?? How much are the crooked CEO'S putting in their coffers?? When all is said and done we will probably have just enough to pay top dollar for these bad loans and get screwed again...Where is the justice???

How much are these lawmakers making off of this deal??
Two Corporate Lawyers get to be President and Vice President, you have no vote. The Electorial Colleges are already bought. NY (Bailout), NJ, CT, PA, IL, DE, IL, MI, etc. and those other Corporations Incorporated at Delaware at other States..
Where is the justice???
Already bought by the Corporations that own the Politicians (Law Makers) thru lobbists.
When all is said and done we will probably have just enough to pay top dollar for these bad loans and get screwed again
We do not have enough money, this is borrowed money from foreign banks with outrageous interest after the Chinese stopped loaning us money. The outrageous interest "usury" is allowed by those Corporations Incorporated in the State of Delaware, Courts of Chancery, Senator Joseph Biden's State of Delaware. So the 700 Billions USD becomes Trillions USD. Other countries are also refusing to accept the USD as payment and are requiring US Debt Payment in Euros or Petro Dollars.
And yes they will be coming back again. Just like Corporation GM, Ford, Chrysler: 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s. 2008, 25 Billion USD. Free money. Spent to move Factories to Mexico, layoff American Workers, multimillion USD Corporate Board Member Parties, raise Corporate Board Member salaries, benefits, bonuses (not performance based), separation pay. You say they are different Board Members? Many Board Members are on each others Corporate Boards.
This bail out will do nothing but make it worse watch these and see

How is bailing out the financial institutions going to help? They are in trouble because people can make the payments. If the money was given to those who would use it to pay off debts and bmake purchases, then it would be used to improve the situation. Instead it is going to go to the instituations that will then go back to convincing people to borrow more and put more money in their pockets, again...I don't get it

I completely agree. What guarantee is there that the next gamble to come along won't put this country right back where it is? What regulations, or controls will stop this from happening again? These maggots on Wall Street have learned nothing, and there is nothing to stop this or something like it from destroying us. We will not be bailing out a bunch of thieves again. Next time there won't be a money, we'll just roll out the guillotines on Wall street and have street justice.

The only thing you can do, unless you are rich and probably one of them, is vote the people in office out. Give up your party politics, your sentiments, and your swarmy marmry affection for the way people look and talk. VOTE THEM OUT. That is your dissent. The REALLY sad part of this is that the ecomomy will recover much more quickly if something is done about the price of gas. And no one , I mean NO ONE will even mention it. Not the media , the politicians, NOBODY! Do you know why?? Because thats who is really running our country, BIG OIL. Vote 'em all out America and we will all go from there.

from the 1950's! Come on Congress get with it! This is mainstreets financial future too...We should fight for $250,000.00 insurance on uour money. Lots of people have their retirement accounts tied up in their banks.
What about us tax payers? Don't just bail out the greedy wall street brokers...
Bepatient, I agree with you. I'm sick of party loyalists coming here and arguing "it's the other party's fault." Both parties were responsible for this. The Republican's betrayed their belief in limited government and the capatilist system. The Democrats betrayed their mantra about being for the poor, not the rich. Both parties are to blame and both should be punished accordingly. Go ahead and vote Democrat Bubber, I'm sure they wil not steal anymore money from the middle class.... That last statement was not an endorsement for McCain either. Both parties have to go.

The list omitted Rodney Alexander of District 5 in Louisiana. There is an election today (Saturday, 10/4), and he has an up until now unknown opponent. My wife and I are going to help the "unknown opponent" as much as we can with our vote. Alexander is expected to win, and he has no opppostion in November, but hey, we have to start somewhere. If not this time, keep voting against these weasels till they do go. People have got to wake up sometime; I just hope before it is too late.
Once again, not just the ones who changed their vote but all who voted for this abomination.
we need to vote out everyone that voted for it the congress people also. It is time to clean house of all that did not do what the American public told them to so don't forget a yes vote for this mess is a no vote for them in TX two congress people told us on phone call no we are not voting for it then guess what so I say anyone that voted for it should be gone.
Sharn Cedar, let's not just punish those that changed their minds, let's punish all those that voted "yes". All of them, but you will never get rid of the old dionosaurs. Their liberal constitutents will never get rid of them. Don't ask me what it is about them they like, go figure, I don't see them likable enough to keep in office. So what is the plan to let them know we are unhappy.
Well you're darn right its the greedy corruption on wall street and in the legislature that got us into this mess. Unfortunately, hockey moms and joe six packs all across this great nation just bought themselves a nice big pile of sh*t. I betcha that it's probably the 'elitist' left wings' fault this all happened. Palin as VP?!?! That woman is as vapid and nonsensical as they come. Lord help us all if McSAME gets elected. I am ashamed of this congress, this administration and the failings of both presidential nominees. Furthermore, IS THERE a Republican who can tell me EXACTLY what McSAME stands for? I have yet to hear a plan. All of you republicans out there who voted for Bush and will vote for McSAME deserve exactly what you get. My hands are clean. I will do my part to change the way this election pans out. But I am only one vote.

Baby killer! What if you you got it wrong .
Dude, you're kinda creeping me out here. What the hell are you talking about?
Only brain dead fools keep touting that one party is solely responsible for this mess or that the other party will do better in office. These elected officials are mostly birds of a feather and don't give a rip about your loyalty when it comes their own finanical gain.
Blind faith and loyalty party supporters just don't get it which is a part of the reason we all have been pooped on by elected officials on both sides.

I think that's what they are trying to do having only the two party system; Divide and Conquer.
Rick
Baby killer! What if you you got it wrong . Burn Baby Burn... Dems in hell. 50.1. murders. Hilter only killed 6 million you all are soooo fair ahead.. Rest in Peace but I don't think so! Could be any second.. Brain, Heart what ever and it's all over! To the end of time
Can we guys please help collapse this vile post of RICK ? It is FALSE, inflammatory and irrational. This man has no idea of how mentally deranged Adolf Hitler was.

I can't believe what I am reading here!!! How can any of you taxpaying Americans that are obviously as pissed off about this bailout=handout plan as I am, continue to support either Republican or Democrat candidate? Are you people really that blind, or just completely stupid?
Osama Obama was so bold as to go on TV and instruct lawmakers to vote for the plan, regardless of what the vast majority of taxpayers were instructing them to do. He obviously forgot or just doesn't care, that as a Senator he is in office to be his constituents voice. Mabe the other voices in his head are drowning out the ones he is paid to listen too?!!
Ron Paul, where are you when your country really needs you?!!!
You have got to be kidding, they don't even a plan to implement and have to hire a whole staff to get it rolling .I thought we had people in the system who knew how to count money,Or is it that they don't count in negitive numbers. Hire! My a$$, Take care of their brothers, sisters, aunt, uncle, sister second cousins wife and so on.It has started already, Two days to figure out a excuse to tell the public its good for them. The real economist are saying it won't work you didn't have to pay them a dime. Don't take phone calls or email and tell the news that more of us are for it.You have just made history and it is nothing to be proud of.

When will you people get it, these two parties do not care for the middle class. This bill proves it, and the sad thing is, you will continue to vote for them, on false promises of change. Obama and McCain are part of the problem, you are plain ignorant if you think either one of these guys is going to do good by YOU! They just gave tax break to NASCAR in this BILL! DEMs and REPs said yes to this, what does NASCAR have to do with this financial crisis??? I beg you to go to CSPAN, pick a new candidate from a new party, vote for them, and lets see real change. They can not do any worse than what we have in office today, what are you scared of, CHANGE???
Somebody or something is pulling the strings here. The politicians are given offers they can't refuse. But who is at the top of this? I do not buy it. I would like to see all of the money tracked, and I would like to see what is at the top of this scheme. I am also amazed at the lack of recognition for Nader, who is the only presidential politician who saw this coming years ago and has the backbone and integrity to stand up for what is right. It appears that an overwhelming discontent with the elected officials who have sold us out on this issue but some people still support Obama or McLame despite their documented track record on this and other matters. It would be great if Nader could win the election, but that is too much to ask. Let's face it, this whole mortgage scheme was pushed along by selfish people who lied on their mortgage applications. America is in deep trouble. "Give me liberty or give me death"???
None of the other Presidential candidates are even in the debates. In a lot of cases they won't even be on the ballot in November.
I really don't know what to do. There are obviously powers that be and powers that aren't, but why does only the Republicans and Democrats get the lion share of attention and the other candidates are virtually ignored?
Changing that would be real change huh?
Please check out Nader's site: He is on the ballot in most states. If you look around the site you will see that he predicted this years ago. He is the only candidate I will vote for. The Republicans broke their Contract With America and the Democrats broke their promises to impeach Bush, get us out of Iraq, and look out for our interests above the interests of the very wealthy. In the future the only hope will be creating another party, but it is too late now. I will not vote for those who support criminals, fortunately Nader is on my state's ballot.
Big Banking is the "Big Brother" we have feared would be coming. Except they have been pulling the world's strings for over 100 years. Bush's grandfather was on the board of the world's largest banking concern just before WWI, they pushed us into WWI by sending the Lusitania, laden with explosives, into dangerous waters purposely. They then proceeded to finance both sides in WWI, same thing in WWII, the cold war, and on and on. Worldwide banking is the new world order, they are already in charge.

We may be at a critical stage. Nanatechnology is advancing at a rapid rate. The goal of chipping the population has been said to be a goal of those pulling the strings. They already have a lot of control, but chipping everybody would increase control. Actions to identify them, document their contributions to the world, and take corrective actions are long overdue. I can not know these things but if there is an elite that is pulling the strings of the world we are rapidly running out of time to take corrective action for ourselves, our children, and all our children's children. This is why I would like to see an audit of cash flow. If you really follow the cash you will be closer to identifying who is pulling the strings.
What do you need Nader for. You have OBAMA!

Right, Obama or McCain who both voted for this legislation, That's real brilliant putting either one in office will give us even more political butt ripping corruption and greed unless that's what you enjoy.

solomon why do you think O'Bama will be different after the election? When someone constantly tells you one thing and does another, you better believe what he does is what he believes.
Just a thought but what if we all and I mean all of america voted for neither dem. or rep.. Sort of a none of the above sort of deal.
Dear JWFloors then we would have Obama because all the miniorites will vote for him. It wouldn't work, better vote for McCain at least he's the best we have of the two, and we have Sarah who has more common sense than all the others put together. I think we have all been sold a bill of goods by the so called great economist, and yet there were 126 I have heard that wrote and said this is a "bad deal" live with it guys, it's what we are going to get.
As we see the Bush Administration waning. Secretary of the Treasury Paulson may have to turn the rest of the bailout to Obama's new Secretary of the Treasury Johnson or Raines. The ones who reaped alot of cash out of this mess. What a deal that will be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What if everybody voted Nader into office as president?
The President is elected by the electoral college, not by popular vote. Ralph Nader will not have enough electoral votes to win.
Both Democrat and Republican Congressmen are responsible for the dire predicament we find our self in.
These Congressmen have now voted to give their Wall Street Cronies $700 + billion to cover their loses, telling us it’s all being done for the benefit of the little people, the average citizens and their families, seniors and small business. How courageous and honorable.
Aren't these the same Democrat and Republican Congressmen that gave us NAFTA and other free trade agreements that drove our manufacturing base off shore and left us with a huge trade deficit?
Some of these Democrats and Republicans have been in office for 20 years or more, gluttonously feeding from the public trough.
With all their experience they have impoverish the nation, poisoned the Republic and engrossed the People bringing us to the brink of disaster and economical catastrophe.
Yet when these arrogant, pompous, self righteous buffoons come up for re-election, we will again happily vote the same Democrats and Republicans back to office, thus rendering the Government stagnant.
With our vote we have made the Servant the Master. When Republican virtues fail, slavery ensues.
A fool and his Liberty are soon parted.
They always use the same old lame excuse "it's for the betterment of the American people" this is just like trickle down economics. What a bunch of fools we were. The rich don't want you eating at their table so they tell you, you will get to eat all the crumbs that fall off the table. What an evil joke. I'm just glad that when judgement day comes these devils are going to burn baby burn!
The only thing i saw wrong in this post was that corporate taxes and excessive regulation drove most of the industry out of the country. Some regulation is required but some of the things big brother makes companies do is nuts.
They have worked the middle class over into extinction, It is officially rich and poor guess whos calling is next?Thats right you overpaid CEOs, this is in your hands now. They are always trying to shove someone down the ladder and were already there. Lobby all you want its not going to help you now.

A few of the House members were forced to pass this heinous bill all under the terrorist threat of MARTIAL LAW in America from a dictatorship that runs this country! Unbelievable! The worst act of treason ever committed thus far against this country. This bill gives immunity and dictatorial power to the treasury. Now all we have to look forward to is runaway inflation and actual martial law that has just went from simmer to high heat. It would be wise to buy storable food and then start putting your soon to be worthless u.s. dollar into precious metals. In the not to distant future, food will soon be the only means of exchange. There is very little time to wait to do this for you and the ones you love.
The House wasn't the only ones threatened today with OPEN PHYSICAL MARTIAL LAW IN AMERICA, WE ALL WERE and it is coming. Prepare yourselves. May our Heavenly Father protect the innocent.

The real terrorists and enemies of America reside in New York and Washington.
Some of what you say may be true...But under the threat of martial law? Show me the scoop!!!Where is your proof? There is not enough authority to impose martial law at this time. There is however the deification of OBAMA who could over time remove the weapons from the citizen that can resist imposition of martial law.

Even if it's not on sale, you may want to consider picking up some aluminum foil. Cover all your windows and then make a little hat to cover your head. This will keep the voices from coming in and confusing you any farther.
Excellent comments. Like the "citizens" are going to have their guns and stop federal forces. (Which will never happen anyway) Some of these morons and their fixation with guns is disturbing.

Actually you are hiding your heads in the sand. You are looking for a rescue. Buddy if this thing goes to hell and it is likely you are toast . It's what happens when you lose the instinct for survival.
Oh yeah, little tin hat blah blah blah... morons and gun fixation blah blah blah . I know it's not a pleasant thought to contemplate collapse and helplessness. "All hail OBAMA our savior."
Well this seems to have moved a little into left field, but our founding fathers put in the second amendment to aloow us to be able to defend ourselves from a government go berzerk. Some out the may not hink it was for this purpose, but you have to remember that our founding fathers were not allowed to own guns and were forced to house and feed British forces. If we give up our guns, Hitler would be so proud that he would try to stand up and dance, but then so would many Americans that think socialism is a good idea. Nathan Webster, One of the founding fathers, wrote in a pamplet urging Pennsylvania's ratification of the Constitution "Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword, because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States." Then Partick Henry"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force.Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined." It is not a gun fixation it is a liberty fixation that people who want to uphlod the Constitution have. You may cede your right to self preservation, but I will not give up mine under the pretense of the greater good, or in your case the greater god, o'bama who has already stated his contempt for the second amendment, then reversed his statements when the SupremeCourt did indeed rule that the second amendment mean the people had a right to bear arms(that means own weapons).
Tom, didn't Waco show you who's really in charge? I don't care what kind of an arsenal you've managed to stockpile, none of us are a match for the U.S. military.
Now that the Pork barrell and bailout has been approved by both parties, the Bush Administration's Secretary of the Treasury must set the wheels in motion to execute the plan. When the new incoming Administration is sworn in they will have to carry it through to the end. Envision this: Obama and Biden's new Secretary of the Treasury Johnson or Raines will have to finish the plan. Both are financial advisors to Mr. Obama. Both were Wall Street CEO's. One even recieved 6 million in bonuses from Freddy/Fannie and both were part of the problem. Now we may see the new deal.
Speaking of executing the bailout plan, there's a few other things I'd like to execute while we're at it.
I think they are about to get a big dose of bottom up leadership.
America just got a Class A education on our monetary system.

Obama and McCain not only rallied their fellow Congressmen to vote for the "bail out" they themselves voted for it.
Unfortunately People proclaiming to vote out of office those that voted for the "bail out", are enthusiastically supporting Obama and McCain and will vote for them in the up and coming election.
If people are really serious about sending a message to Congress. They wont vote for either Obama or McCain.
Since Obama and McCain call for change, give it to them. Vote them and their Party out of office.
The reason I am voting for McCain is that he is the lesser of two evils that truly have a chance to win. I just hope in the next round of primaries the press doesn't pick casdidates to elevate or destroy to fit their agenda. As Much as I have enjoyed Orson Wells movies over the years, I wish Citizen Kane had never been made so as to avoid the template for today's media approach to shaping views instead of reporting news.
Was that smoke coming off of Bush's pen as signed that bill? His hand was like a blur it was moving so fast.
Anytime they rush something through that fast that is that expensive and then tell you it won't have any effect for a year, you know they just took you for a lot o' money. In article under will it work the author states "don't know it's never been done before". No I've never seen a Presidents hand sign a bill that fast. He looked like the Flash running into the office to sign it. We just got ripped off really good. He's a pro!

Mistake a friend as an enemy will be regrateful.
Mistake an enemy as a friend will be fatal.
I find it interesting that so many think they are smarter than all of those, both in and outside the government (like Warren Buffet), who think that this rescue plan was necessary. Even most of those Senators and Congressmen who voted no would probably agree that it is needed, but being in close election contests and their votes not necessary for passage, voted no.
How is it that everyone is so much smarter than those we not only elect, but also those who are in the best position to know what is going on in our economy?? If you doubt it, perhaps you can explain to all what a 2 year swap is, or how about an elevated Libor rate??
Warren Buffet is getting into the banking business. That much seems self-explanatory.
Beyond that, what type of securities seem the most undervalued at the moment?
How might institutional investors react when certain types of securities are highly undervalued?
If the article is correct, and relief won't arrive for at least a month, then can anyone think of any obvious sources of funds (until help can arrive) for dealing with highly undervalued securites? Post haste? Assuming they're not the sort of securites sold in the stock market?
THANK YOU, Peter, for being a small voice of reason in a sea of angry armchair economists who have no idea what this bill is about. I have the exact same concern.
When I helped elect my representatives in Washington, my expectation is that they go there, sit in on the sessions, the committees, the finance hearings, and the speeches by the economists and financial analysts who make it their life's work to understand this very complicated and GLOBAL monster called today's economics. Armed with this information, I expect them to make the best decision they can...based on this information...for the American public. On the verge of an economic disaster, the worst thing they could do is make a decision based on their desire to get re-elected...sacrificing millions of jobs in so doing and failing to avert a crisis from which we, frankly, might not recover.
Americans are angry. I'm one of them. And we have a right to be angry. But be angry for the right reasons. I keep seeing all these posts about not voting for anyone who voted for this bill. To me, that's the wrong reason. If you want a reason to not vote for an incumbent, let it be for allowing this problem to ever develop to start with. But don't vote them out for using the economic information, to which I personally was not privy and neither were you, and making a painful decision to do what they had to do to protect YOU, your job, your savings, and your retirement pensions.
Does anyone honestly believe these representatives were unaware of how angry the public is over this issue? I'm sure it crossed the minds of each of them they might be committing career suicide if they voted "yes". And they did it anyway, because the information available to them showed it was critical. And both candidates were for it. Even the "maverick" McCain who has been opposed to all manner of irresponsible spending in the past. But nobody stops to think. There's too much anger right now to get a rational response to a crisis.

At mid day the DJIA is down a mere 500 points. Who knew? Our next lesson, class, involves seeing how intervention by the SEC ultimately affects the market.
If the SEC imposes yet another ill-timed ban on short-selling (within the next two weeks) it would at best suggest the commission is remarkably ill-informed about the relationship between publicly traded stock options and the ability of options to affect prices of the underlying stock itself. The hope here would be that a ban wouldn't boost share prices sufficiently above the strike price of large numbers of call options, thus triggering a market-wide sell-off.
Such a sell-off in that event would currently seem inevitable because the smart money, for at least the next month, seems more likely to be chasing debt rather than stock. Thus it seems unlikely that parties acquiring shares from the exercise of call options would have any interest in keeping shares they've just acquired. If they don't wish to pay for stock thus acquired, it's dumped the following week. In a declining market it's doubtful the call writers from whom the stock was acquired would be in any particular hurry to buy the stock back.
On the other hand, if large numbers of put options expire in the money, it's normally good news for people who own stock. Whenever that situation occurs it tends to result in short positions being closed in just as big of a hurry.
